Blow Up: 2022
Plastic permeates our lives, our oceans and our land. Plastic does not decompose expeditiously. This means that all plastic that has ever been produced since 1907 and has ended up in the environment is still present in one form or another. We aren’t getting rid of it anytime soon. There is something sinister about its resistance to destruction. It is hard to believe that this contemptible material is also used to make toys for children. In this form it can bring joy to a child's life for a moment. Once that joy is gone the object remains for generations, buried and forgotten. These images play to that dichotomy as well as the relationship of plastic to the environment and its abundance in our world.
